And “Cars you didn’t know existed”
The Shelby Turbo GLHS.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Dodge’s answer to hot hatchback that never quite made it to the icon status of many others. Only looked into it after Mr. Regular mentioned a “dodge omni” it on the untitled car show.
Great reference. Looks like it would’ve been a fun car had it carried on.
Pictured Below: NOT the car from the ad. But a fine example of what one did look like. Sorry Oppo, that’s an image from google.

I’d believe 110k miles. Very cool find!

Agreed.

parked in the hard sun all it’s life by the looks of it. Which leads me to why does it only have 10,000 miles if it wasn’t stored all this time?

I want those wheels... so 80s.

I was very disappointed when I clicked the link and discovered it's not the one pictured, very disappointed indeed. Also more like 210,000!

You didn’t know these existed? Oh man, they are so awesome! I would love to own/drive/ride in one before I die.
Plus maybe someone should make the seller a combo deal on the Omni and the DSM sitting next to it.

Possibly the worst thing Carroll’s name was ever put on ....

Man I love those.
but if the existence of this blows your mind, look for a turbo caravan.
Or the ultimate expression of the 2.2 turbo the Dodge spirit R/T.
Think Porsche is fancy with it’s variable geometry turbo rigs? pft, dodge had them in shit boxes long before Porsche got their lederhosen tight in the crotch over them.

These things were pretty badass back in the day, for what they were. Could be the original “hot hatch”?
No price in ad?

I have trouble believing only 10K original miles too. Carfax?

Really? The Goes Like Hell were built to win the SCCA factory stock series. They’re incredible little cars.
Have you seen the Shelby Dakota and Shelby Durango?

lowball. restore. hoon.
My highschoool latin teacher had a GLH (not an s) as her winter beater when she put the OG Mini in storage....

The Golf GTI wins the hot hatch crown, having been around already for almost 10 years by this point.

YES! A “Goes Like Hell S’more!!!” These were rad. My high school jerb was working at a local hotel that had a Hertz agency that we (the hotel employees) administered. I used their rental cars to run errands for the hotel/pick up guests at the airport. Hertz had some GLHS’ in inventory back then. They were all manuals and SO MUCH FUN TO HOON!

I don’t think the Rabbit GTI appeared in the US until the mid 80’s, but I guess it got there first.

Still cool

Nope! Before my time, literally. Born in ‘87 and i’d say my auto enthusiasm has only been developed in the last 10 or so years. Old finds like this are always exciting though.
My hope for posting this was definitely for someone on Oppo to make some bad/good decisions to acquire this.

Alas, sorry for the false hope. I would’ve saved and reuploaded the image, but flubbed it.

Fair enough on the trucks. And I drove, long ago, a GLH (or what it a GLHS?), and it torque-steered, was difficult to handle, and the build-quality was not good. The Omni/Horizon twins were built to compete with the VW Rabbit, and they just didn’t.
Not sure if it was Shelby, but someone pointed out that GLH stood for ‘goes like hell.’
